The village of Uffington lies on the edge of the Vale of the White Horse, just north of the Berkshire Downs. Overlooking the village is the famous White Horse, a marvellous chalk figure which was cut into the hillside 3000 years ago. The village has a fine church, known as The Cathedral of the Vale, and an excellent museum.

We viewed that the website stated " This year our exhibition will be remembering the end of the 1st World War 100 years ago." It also said " The Museums home, the Old Schoolroom, was commissioned by Thomas Saunders in 1617. The Museum is open from Easter to October every Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday from 2pm to 5pm. Group visits or visits for research purposes can be arranged at other times.
